The Girl Scouts are on their way! We have a mini-workshop scheduled in the studio for the local girl scout troup. We’re starting off the day with an over view of those wonderful fuzzy fiber-bearing animals. Piles of samples for everybody to touch-feel are all spread out. The Schacht spinning wheel is ready for a little demo as are the spindles for each little pair of hands to give it a “whorl”. The Kool-Aid dye pot will be on the stove for a non-toxic dye bath (for the fiber, not the girls) and then on to the weaving! Demos on the AVL’s will take place and finally each participant will get to weave a small sample on their little loom. Pictures coming soon!
Fiber has been flying in the studio; we’re trying to finish up yardage by the 15th of November. We are leaving on November 17th for a mega cross country drive that will eventually get us to Canyon Country, CA. There we will visit with our daughter and son-in-law and enjoy Thanksgiving together. Then we are venturing over to Daejeon, Korea for a visit with our son and his family. I can hardly wait to get there; in addition to seeing our kids we will get to spend time with our two grandchildren! The handwoven baby gifts are already packed!
